The Upper Columbia River Network is a regional internet that connects individuals to opportunities located in the region. www.uppercolumbia.net is the starting point for anyone interested in locating a business, service, or event in NE Washington. Comprehensive regional search, event calendars, and business directories are the backbone (stock and trade) of the network.
The region is centered on the Columbia River watershed above Grand Coulee Dam in the northeast corner of Washington State and into southern British Columbia. The region is subdivided into geographic sub-domains by community and business development districts. “Explore The Corridor” or one business development sub-region that encompasses the 395 corridor north of Spokane.
The primary goal of this regional internet is to focus information and communication within the geographic area for the benefit of users located both inside the region and external. As of 2005, a significant effort and investment already existed in web content by businesses and organizations located in the region. However there was no easy way to browse or search those resources. UCRN aims to provide this “umbrella” service of making this geographically focused content more easily available. UCRN also exists to promote new content from regional organizations by demonstrating the value of focused electronically delivered information.
UCRN maintains a comprehensive listing of all businesses in each sub-region. New businesses can be listed in the business directory by making a simple request. The business directories are fully searchable.
